What information do we collect?

1a. We collect information from you when you register on our site, subscribe to our newsletter or fill out a form.

2a. When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your: name or e-mail address. You may, however, visit our site anonymously.

3a. Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to my users based on their visit to your sites and other sites on the Internet.

What do we use your information for?

1b. Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

• All search requests through space and science are recorded anonymously only for the sole use of improving the search results for future visitors.

• Users participating in the Space and Science polls will have there IP address logged to help prevent multiple votes from the same user.

Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever.

Do we use cookies?

1c. Yes (Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computers hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. IP Addresses

1f. We collect and log the IP address of all visitors to space and science An IP address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet. IP addresses allow computers and servers to recognize and communicate with one another. We collect IP address information so that we can properly administer our system and gather aggregate information about how our site is being used, including the pages visitors are viewing. To maintain your anonymity, we do not associate IP addresses with records containing personal information. We will use IP address information, however, to personally identify you in order to enforce our legal rights or when required to do so by law enforcement authorities.

2f. Your IP address is also logged when you use our space tracker facility. This is for the sole purpose of showing you your current position on the planet to better enhance your experience. How we protect your personal information

1g. All data that you enter on this site is encrypted with secure server software (SSL). I take the protection of my members information very serious. And this will NEVER be sold, transferred, duplicated, offered to third parties, abused or taken advantage of.

Access to Information

1h. In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (UK) you have the right to access any information that we hold relating to you. I may reserve the right to charge for this information if I deem it is being abused.

The Data Protection Act 1998 gives you the right to apply for a copy of your personal information. You will need to put your request in writing, by letter or email, and send it to the person or organisation you believe holds this information. Make sure to put your name and address and keep a copy. It is a good idea to make clear you are asking for the information under the Data Protection Act 1998.
Yes, under the Data Protection Act they can ask for a fee of up to £10.00 for each request made.

2h. All users of our site may make any changes to their information at anytime by logging into the Forum (http://spaceandscience.co.uk/forum/), selecting ‘Profile’ and reviewing the ‘Modify Profile’ section in the left sidebar.

3h. If you wish to remove your profile then you can PM the administrator and I will remove all data that is pertaining to you. This does NOT include posts made by yourself unless I feel its appropriate to remove the posts. Removing the posts of a member would require a lot of work so I will only do this if the forum is abused by said user.

Chatroom

1i. The chatroom is monitored by an AI bot I created called 'Dangerbot' and also now his brother 'Titan'. He logs only your username and hostmark.

This is for the sole purpose of recognising and kicking/banning individuals. The bot also logs all chat in the channel which is deleted after 1 month at my discretion.

The bot will defend the channel if you do any of the following:

• Flood the channel with lots of text

• Swear

• Talk to much in CAPS

The bot is there to protect my members.

2i. The use of the bots other functions is a service as is. I am not responsible for the responses the bot gives when you request a service, the responsibility is solely with the respective author of the script or the company providing the information. Abuse of the bots services will most likely see you kicked from the channel from said bot.
